Problem with Harmer Green wood and Candlestone as sites is that although they have a lot of space and are great for running a fight in, they are sadly lacking in both electricity and indoor areas.
Although the lack of a warm, dry place for the crew to shelter is something that can be dealt with in summer months, during the later and earlier parts of the year it isn't ideal.
The electricity supply isn't essential, however it does fundamentally alter the type of game we run on a site. Without the cortex a few plot links, the credit transfer system and cortexers are limited. We also have plans for a few new toys we want to bring out next event.
Location wise I've been ringing around a few places and am currently scheduling to visit both Pheonix urban airsoft and Deadwood at Wattlehurst farm sometime over the next few weeks to get a feel for the sites and discuss the possibilities of us using them.

We're cowboys...cowboys IN SPACE!!!
spaceships, drinkin', whorein', shootin', more spaceships, guns, more guns, big guns, thinly failed referances to the Millenium Falcon, thinly failed referances to Bob Fett, more spaceships, fightin', figthin' in bars, bounty hunters, even more guns....what sane person would turn down such an unremitting joygasm?
Anyway the place is called Deadwood, just communicate with them by alternating the words "hump" and "Bun tyen-shung duh ee-Dway-Ro" (and possibly the odd "Lovejoy") and we'll be in. _________________ Today is a good day for someone else to die...

And in my head, I'm singing "Cowboys in Space" to the tune of "Men in Tights". It's been a long day...

Deadwood is a yes, however the weekend that we penciled in for I've found clashes with the last Nyctophobia event of the year. Will have to get back in contact with Papa Bear and examine our options.
Also scouted out Pheonix and will have to get in contact with them with dates and a few questions once we've assimilated our expedition. _________________ "I aim to misbehave..." |

Papa Bear! Now you've just gotta love that. Glad the site is ok. All those hours of idly browsing the net pays off in the end I suppose. Do I get a finders fee? |

Deadwood would be wonderful though clashing with nycto is not so, What other dates do they have free? Can't be soon enough in my books _________________ Shikoba Cheng - The Jien Huo

I'm assuming that was the 6-8 October Nycto event?
(last one I can see on their website) was that the only one they had?
(mind you wouldn't have worked for me anyway due to prior commitments)

That's the one, problem is we have between the Jien Ho and Leaf on the Wind two October dates out, Nycotphobia another date, September dates are difficult for deadwood which leaves the 21st which may be pushing things a little too late in the year so may result in them having to take down the teepees.
What may happen is we work on the old saying that patience is a virtue and reschedule Deadwood for October next year and try to schedule Phoenix for next spring.
Might have time for a Serenity Christmas episode if everyone wants to meet up for a social. _________________ "I aim to misbehave..." |

All Teepee's aside - definately cannot come soon enough! (enthusiasm, you see!)
If you are looking for an indoor site at somepoint, we used one in wales that was very Core world, with indoor garden, two huge rooms, large kitchen and huge amount of bunk spaces (plus two separate chalets for the crew), you should take a look at Manorbier - there's not a huge amount of outdoor space with cover (though you could notify the airbase next door that we are doing stuff as they have armed guards!), there is a private beach area, and the indoors is top sci fi area. South Wales. Very sci-fi!

Well, deepest darkest Wales it may be, but it's got to be better than Wigan.

Inevitably, whichever date is decided upon, some people aren't going to make it. I'd suggest just deciding what date suits the organisers, that you can also hire an appropriate site for (Manorbier is looking very nice for a Core World location) and just post it. I strongly suspect that you'll fill the event, even if one or two of the crews attending the first event can't make it.
Candlestone tends to be very booked up during the year but is, indeed, a very fine site. Although rumour has it that they're thinking of putting power in sometime soon we got round the problem by hiring in a "portable" generator. |

*ahem*
Please can we replace the word 'could' with the words 'definitely should'?
We used to inform local police about our fantasy games - if we're going to be carrying stuff that looks like real guns anywhere near a military base, they really need to know.
Manorbier looks fantastic, by the way. _________________ Nate Watson, Ships Doctor, Aphrodite |

Some of my lot have already told me they will cancel whatever they need to to attend the next one.
We're just waiting on a date.
PS Can we book yet?
