Hehe, I wasn't talking about the more reputable suppliers.
One guy, who had some really crappy AEGs for £15 a pop said, "down my way the police don't know their arse from their elbow, and I've got a lot of my stock stuck at the station".
Which I translated as meaning, "the police have confiscated most of my stock because I keep breaking the law and selling to the wrong people."

Worth noting that re-enactors get exemption from the Act, all of it, regardless of their genre.
So a Sealed Knot membership (£16 for 6 months, no pre-reqs, no actual attendance necessary) is good enough to buy a RIF M60 machinegun...
It's also worth noting that LARP does not count as theatre for the purposes of the Act, and that it's only the prop buyers/armourers in registered theatrical companies that are exempt.
I'm just glad I did all the manufacture and purchasing I needed to before the VCR Bill became an Act.
The one I'm making now, I totally made before, I'm just 'repairing' it now... _________________

Now that is DAMNED handy to know.
How long before the pencil necks in power seal that loop hole?
I wonder if Sealed Knot (and other re-enactment societies) will see a sudden boost in membership from LARPers. _________________ Chaplain Damien Sutherland

Nah, just membership is good enough for the shops. You don't actually have to turn up to any sealed knot events.
The retailers *want* to sell you stuff, they just need to cover their ass legally, and they are allowed to sell to re-enactors. The Act makes no mention of replicas having to be in genre, so the retailers don't care. _________________

You join through your local regiment, there is no central membership. _________________

Hiya,
I'm sure this shop has been recommended here before, but they seem to be up to speed with the replica gun laws.

Lever and west six gun actions were designed pre 1870 so are exempt.
Considering the cost, quality and finish of "cheap" bb guns, you are probably better off with one of these, then greebling it like they did for the series and movies.
I've bought a few bits and bobs (but no guns) from the store and everything went 100% smoothly.
Greg.
