Newbie

G'day people of the net.

I am considering coming to the event (first timer, be good to me), but have no kit at all. I'm a student with like no actual budget but can rustle up some money by sacrificing a couple of nights out (that would be say anything up to £200).

This would not include travel costs, so could I get some tips and tricks at making that money last through getting an outfit together? And where would I could get some decent gear?

Depending on where you are I might be able to help you out finding cheap kit. If you go to good army surplus places and charity shops you should be able to get kit for a tiny amount of what you have put by.Plus Im sure there are people who will want to sell some of there old kit on failing that you could always borrow some clober. message me at bababoons@hotmail.co.uk

P.S Its my first time too

P.P.S If you see a guy called Nocturn or Rob nocking about ask him he makes a lot of his own stuff.

Basic Serenity kit...

Grab a pair of jeans from your wardrobe.
Obtain a checked shirt and wooly jumper from a charity shop.
Purchase a reasonable looking pistol from a toy shop.

One Serenity character for less than £10. If you head to ASDA then George offer a range of stupidly cheap suits if you wish for something more up market.

Ok, I guessed the basic kit. How about some more details? I think my first character will have to be an easy one to do, maybe a mercenary. And I have just realised that unless my rp group from university comes, I have no ship! How would I go about actually getting with a group?

For a merc you'll want to know where to get cheepish weapons and combat gear.

www.airshooter.co.uk will provide you with a nice slection of cheep (and not so cheep) replica's

www.flecktarn.co.uk will provide a full range of army surplus kit including a load of differnt types of webbing and helmets.

Second the Flecktarn site, they rock. Good stuff, good prices and friendly staff.

I am in fact wearing a pair of their trousers as I type.

Oh, I'll also add www.leprevo.co.uk to this thread. It's the only place I've found on the internet that sells whole hides rather than finished goods in the UK. Cheapest you can buy is goat leather for about £20, but for that you get 6 square feet - 1 square foot should be sufficient for a holster, so you have plenty of extra to play with for other bits and bobs. I'm intending to make a pistol holster with slot for a screw on silencer and a rifle holster for a bolt-action one I'll be making myself. As the inclination/money/hobby takes me I may invest in one or two of those cheaper airsoft weapons, but that's for sometime after I finally become a player Wink

eep, tailoring. that requires skill! I'm going to add the question I asked in the sticky thread here as well.

How do you get to the event? Whats the local train station?
