Minigun Guide

Hey fella.

You mentioned at the weekend that you had seen some instructions online for building a minigun like yours , any chance you could forward them on fella?

Cheers,

Hell, wasn't me.

Well, it was my minigun, but not seen online stuff.
Unless I was drunk.
Must have been drunk.

I have been meaning to post a guide on how I built mine, will that do?
I *really* will this time, I posted saying so and everything... Very Happy

How to build a minigun out of drainage pipes, an electric drill and a few bits and bobs.

Please not that the VCR Act prohibits the manufacture of Realistic Imitation Firearms in the UK, so a RIF built using this guide should be painted in bright yellow (or pink, or green, or orange) paint.

Luckily, I made mine before the ban Wink

Parts

Pipes. Standard water/waste pipe in 15mm (6x1m length), 22mm (1x1m length plus a little spare), 37mm (only need about 150mm) and 105mm (250mm length). I used a shorter bit of 105mm and a few connectors to give me a ridge around the end of the body and some detail further in.
37mm and 105mm come in black, saving some painting.

Handfull of brass pipe clips for joining stuff together.

105mm leafguard. these come in two types, cage (pic) and a little conical hat (couldn't find a pic). Get one of each.

105mm pipe clip. The kind you use to screw 105mm pipes to walls.

67.5mm offset bend. Comes in black, and you'll also need an offset t-junction (couldn't find a pic).

Jokeshop bullet belt. Couple of quid, most jokeshops sell them as Bandit Bandoliers. You'll need to paint the bullet tips a lead colour.

- Wood. A sheet of 5mm ply will be perfect, and you'll need enough to cut 5 discs out of (template in the description).
- Glue. No-More-Nails works, hot glue works, evostick contact doesn't. Your mileage may vary. I found no-more-nails doesn't stick too well to the waste-pipes, but it's good as filler.
- Screws. Mixture of sizes and lengths, mostly wood screws. In fact, pretty much all wood screws.
- A rechargable electric drill or screwdriver. Cheap-ass drills work quite well. Mines a Homebase £17.50 job made by Powerbase.
- A cheap computer joystick. It doesn't matter about buttons, cos we're not using any, but you can have them if you like.
- Tennis raquet grip-tape. You can go fluffy, but I prefer the leatherette effect stuff.
- Handfull of reasonably chunky cable-ties, preferably black, but you could paint 'em, I guess.

Tools

Good set of screwdrivers.
A good knife.
A saw (any kind, you are only cutting UPVC).
Can or 3 of Black undercoat.
Can of Bright yellow for the outer coat Very Happy
A good drill
Some means of cutting 4.5 inch circles out of your plywood.
14mm and 21mm drillbits.
Soldering iron.
Solder.
Spare wire (reasonable gauge).

Method

1. Butcher your drill.

Saw the damn thing up.
Take out the battery first. You need to make one cut along the body, seprating the hand grip, and the other just below the trigger. On the Diagram, (A) should be an inch or so longer than (B).
Take care not to mess up the wires too much, but you're gonna cut them anyway, so it's not vital.
Remove the bit of drill handgrip from the trigger switch.
Seperate the mess into the parts you want, Trigger switch and trigger, battery and the bit of grip it goes into, and the drill body.

2. Joystick butchery.

You need the grip perfect, but you don't need any of the base, so grab your saw and make a mess. You *do* need the little knob on the end though, the bit the grip pivots on, so dont mess that bit up.

That's all i got time for right now, i'll edit this post with the rest later.
In the meantime, see if you can make sense of this diagram...

1 - Drill Trigger
2 - 37mm waste pipe wrapped in tennis raquet grip-tape
3 - joystick grip
4 - 105mm cage leafguard
5 - 67.5mm offset bend
6 - 67.5mm offset t-junction
7 - cut-down 105mm conical leafguard
8 - 4.5" wooden disc
9 - 15mm water pipe
10 - 22mm water pipe
11 - jokeshop bullet belt
12 - Drill Battery
13 - 15mm water pipe
14 - 105mm push-fit connector
15 - 105mm waste pipe
16 - 105mm pushfit rubber gasket
17 - 105mm pipe clip

I will finish this, I promise...

Not finished yet, I've yet to say how to join together all the feyu you just bought.

I really will finish this guide, I've been meaning to write it for nearly a year...
