x-posted from Rule 7:
Cracking event all round I thought.
for me the best bits were.
-Being a Gunshark and beign Bar. Who knew being horrible to people would be so popular.
-Hooch: some of the best and most enjoyable roleplay I have ever had which considering it was with a mute says something about me I suspect. Seriously cheers Dan if you are on here, cracking fun.
-Hearing bar described as "a great big surly bear of a man with a spanner"
-Watching Tiny and his "pursuading knife" in action
-Hearing people enthusiastically lay bets that the wildman could take tiny in a fight whilst drunk.
-Hearing some serious welshing on those same bets the next morning when sober.
-Picture-mans tank.
-"What happened?", "he shot at me", "really? idiot!", "yup". Thanks cap
-The Jein Ho crew as ever, you folks are awesome.
-Team Rum.
-Team Gin.
-Team Sugar.
-Captain Fayes reaction to having the rules of "shirts or skins" explained to him.
-Shirts or skins?
-Mrs Wang.

IC: Send me a wave and we'll meet on a planet that isn't *snowing* to bring a half-naked wildman out. It'll be good. _________________ Ben Su Tiao - Chang'E - 嫦娥 |

Again x-referred from Rule 7
Highlights for me include:-
Chatting to May Lou and Pheonix (the drunken chav office girls) and blushing lots at some of the comments (OOC and IC)
Having to avoid May Lou the morning after when she stumbled down to the camp.
Thinking Im so clever in unravelling stuff then then finding out right at the last minute that I did some thing "real stoopid" cos I didn't have all the facts
The horror of agreeing to do a poetry reading and not realising exactly how many players and crew would be there spectating.
The dragon & demon dance was cool.
The chinese song was v cool.
Adding to that.....
Laying bets on which of the Gunsharks and others would get shot up first on the Sunday morning
I think the welching on the bet was more to do with the fact it was freezing cold and snowing on the Sunday, so I'd have felt really guilty about making Ian S get into his loincloth. |

Woohooooo!
That was fantastic. My first time crewing an event and I loved every minute of it. Highlights include:
Bucketfuls of angsty drama
Mrs Chow and Mr Yardstaff's final faceoff and ensuing hysterics
Frog racing!
The dragon dance
Learning to sing in Chinese
Playing a drunken Chav office girl, and then playing the same Chav office girl the morning after...
Drunken chav office girl freaking out due to being told that there were people after her with guns and my mind racing OOC because this was a random NPC that was not connected with the plot, only to later discover that it was a case of mistaken identity. Wonderful coincidence that the name I plucked out of the air was so similar to one of the players - totally unintentional!
Will's balaklava face
Mr Fong and the pink files
Sushi, and actually getting angsty about chopsticks
PCs getting freaked because all the locals were being too nice to them and smiling too much
Mother-and-teen-brat conflict
A great deal of fantastic RP and characters from players and crew alike.
I have severe mental scarring from:
Images of certain crew members topless and covered in fake blood, which shall haunt me for a long time to come, I think.
Jolly Jelly sticks *shudder*
Matt P's character
The fact that I was up, showered and dressed and with a half-drunk cup of tea in hand by 8am on Saturday, which is just too weird.
Black snazz. Oh gods. It gets everywhere. Wait, that came out wrong... er...
Feeling very guilty because everything seemed far too much fun to be crewing and felt more like playing.
Big Woop to the refs and to the rest of the crew for being very lovely people indeed, and to everyone who ended up doing my share of takedown etc in addition to picking me up off the floor a lot when the adrenaline finally wore off.
Looking forward to doing it all again. |

Highlights? Gosh, so many...
The tea party with Wang, Yardstaff and Chow struggling to eat the devilishly hot noodles of the Chang'E. Good old cultural "oh yes, this is a delicacy" to play on foreigners
The workers. So. Much. Fun. Fag Break! Fag Break! Pointy Hat Man!
Shaft 13. That was ace. Smoke and gaffa tape = fun!
The gorgeous stew the carnies made me. Mmm, best cargo ever.
Being thrown into complex top secret head-hurty discussions suddenly, throwing me totally off course and making me terribly confused
Discussions with Xian, and trying to work out a way to afford a companion... Need to start saving for next time!
Chatting to the singers
Port, rum, wine, sake, green stuff, pink stuff, regreaser...
The philosophy of poontang
Reeling
Listening to the same three chords being repeated constantly, from 4-5am
Carrot & Stick with Xavier & Javier
Basically, meeting all you terribly nice people. Seriously, it was ace and everyone was so friendly and wonderful. I had so many great conversations with such a range of brilliant characters. I'll definitely be returning. |

You think that's scarring?
Try unexpectedly encountering those same crew members shambling through the darkness towards you.
And due to the fact you are watching in infra-red, they are paler than usual, and have glowing green eyes... _________________

The carnies! I love your cargo, XavianYu!
The way everybody, eventually, ended up discussing poontang, especially when Ryan WASNT there!
Moses' new wife...what happened to her though? she disappeared Sunday night and never came back!
Watching people take a sip of Tobias Riepers lethal alcohol!
Discussions on ways to have theWild Man rip Mr Wang apart...and still make it look like an accident
The two big comfy chairs in the lantern hut! |

The two big comfy chairs in the lantern hall were great for when my bed turned into a puddle. They were not great for when I should have noticed I'd had too much to drink, and would have if I hadn't been so comfy
I liked the fact there were linears. I didn't much care IC, what with one thing and another, but I liked that they were there. I also loved the way that combat managed to frighten the tzao-gao out of certain players, in spite of taking place on the other side of the planet.
I loved "don't mention the 'R' word". I loved team rum, and the historical analysis of the political messages of old 'earth that was' movies. I hated the fact that it rained in my tent, but that was entirely not the game's fault, and so I can forgive it _________________ These ain't honeyed words, they're bitter truths. |

So - what a fantastic event!
Apologies to all those that Ben was smug / snide / Sihnonese at - you guys are all quite, quite lovely.
Best bits -
* Having such a high class of role playing from everybody, all weekend.
* Meeting so many people from Maelstrom / other settings.
* Making fresh sushi on Friday morning, and being able to cut and serve it on Friday afternoon / evening, and the reaction.
* Saki, and the results.
* The attention the crew paid to backgrounds and providing a beautifully orchestrated plot dump , without it feeling at all awkward.
* The local dial-up system and the cards - access to bank accounts, local news and so on. When it worked - beautifully done, particularly when it was updated.
* Politicking and gunfire, and such a nice mix of both.
* Betty - and the polite order from the Ambassador to "Go and apologise." for not marrying her.
* Mr. Wang, and the sheer smugness of him.
* The Carnie's entrance as a troupe, in costume, with Wildman in tow. _________________ Ben Su Tiao - Chang'E - 嫦娥 |

I'm not sure they were actually edible. Food shouldn't hurt.
Sushi was nice though, as was the tea. Where can I get some of that tea?

The sushi was homemade. The tea was... erm - mainly fruit teas from the supermarket, I think - you'd have to ask Jamesbunni / xavier. What did it taste like? The noodles were done szechwan style - too hot for me, although it was out very out of character not to be chowing down. _________________ Ben Su Tiao - Chang'E - 嫦娥 |

Once again I had an awesome time so massive thanks to all involved. Despite the all round general level of excellence some of my highlights were:
- Using my persuading knife
- The 8 primary uses every gentleman should have for his hat
- Skirts and Skins
- My R&R hat
- Hiding in the rain while Picture Man drove a tank into a radioactive mineshaft
- Communicating with Hooch
Cheers,
ANDY |

The noodles? You couldn't handle the noodles
They were a bit spicey. And not totally authentically Sichaun, mainly cos I didn't have any time or any Sichuan chilis (so just used regular ones). But it was about the right hotness, as in VERY...
The tea was all just a selection of fruity Twinings, available anywhere. Stephen Fry chooses what he advertises well. _________________ Xavier Yu Ji of the Chang'E. "Pointy Hat Man"

in that case, might i recommend the "white tea". It really is quite nice, if a little on the expensive side. High praise indeed, considering that i'm not usually that fond of tea......
